Measurement and machine processing of the contact areas

It is generally the case that not only must the contact construction for rothe erde^® slewing bearings be of a torsion and bend-resistant design, but the contact areas for the bearing mounting itself must also be mainly flat. thyssenkrupp rothe erde recommends using an optical device or laser measurement device to measure the contact areas before a slewing bearing is installed.

If the measurement values are outside of thyssenkrupp rothe erde tolerance range (see table 1 under installation, lubrication, maintenance), mechanical reworking is recommended. In some cases, difficulties are encountered when processing large-scale companion structures. However, the use of transportable processing machines can help here. This also applies to upper constructions and overhead machining.
