At thyssenkrupp rothe erde Germany GmbH we are currently offering you a well-founded, practice-oriented apprenticeship in five recognized apprenticeship trades. In Germany, we employ around 100 apprentices every year. Since we are looking for new apprentices every year, we would like to give you a personal insight into our world of apprentices.
We spoke to various team members for you: with current and former apprentices, HR officers and trainers. They answered our questions about your most frequently asked questions.
What kind of apprenticeship trades can I learn at thyssenkrupp rothe erde?
In the Lippstadt plant, around 20 industrial mechanics and machining mechanics are trained every year. In Dortmund, approx. 3-6 industrial mechanics and machining mechanics are trained, and in some cases also process mechanics metal and / or electronics for industrial engineering as well as approx. 2 industrial clerks and in the commercial area. In Eberswalde approx. 1-2 machining mechanics are trained.

What requirements do I need to bring for an apprenticeship at thyssenkrupp rothe erde?
"Applicants for industrial and technical training should present a good General Certificate of Secondary Education or Certificate of Secondary Education, good basic knowledge in the subjects of mathematics and physics and a general interest in technical matters and equipment," says Kerstin Schulte. "Applicants for an industrial apprenticeship are required to present a good Advanced Technical College Certificate or Abitur (German university entrance qualification). Furthermore, they need to have a good basic knowledge of subjects relevant to training such as Mathematics, German and English, and above all fun working on the PC and in dealing with people. For all applicants, in addition to their professional competence, it is particularly important to us that they are willing to learn, reliable, honest and able to work in a team. ”
Of course not! Our trainer Bernhard Rappold is of the opinion: "First and foremost, you should just be up to learning something new" - that sounds easy!
How is the mood among the apprentices?
Laura, our industrial mechanic apprentice, says: "The team spirit is really good! You do a lot together in a team, that's why I am in contact with the supervisor and other apprentices every day. Apart from that, we all meet together at the latest in the apprentice workshop during the break".
Even as a "newcomer" you can be sure that you're well accepted and quickly find your way into the team. And who knows, maybe friendships will develop which go beyond working hours. Like with Janina, who is doing an apprenticeship as a machining mechanic: "I meet my apprentice colleagues every day at work or at school and we also like to do something together in our free time, I like that".

Our own training workshop in Lippstadt is one of the ways, in which the 70 young apprentices can try out, exchange and develop their skills. At our locations in Dortmund and Eberswalde, you can be sure that you will learn all the skills you need for your future professional life through training cooperations. Regulated working hours and an attractive training salary are not neglected either: "The apprentices get to know the different machines and techniques - from standard to high-tech - and we make sure that the training is product orientated as much as possible," says Bernhard Rappold.
Those who start their apprenticeship with us can be sure to be integrated and appreciated as a full member of the company from the very beginning. It is important for us to give our young entrants the opportunity to take over the responsibility or to be involved. For example, to take care of some parts of the plant tour for visitor groups or mentoring for first-year apprentices.
In addition, apprentices who have distinguished themselves through special achievements, have the opportunity to participate in a 5-day training trip to one of our European subsidiaries. "The trip to Slovakia was one of the most exciting experiences in my apprenticeship," says our former apprentice and current foreman representative Lisa-Marie Winkelhorst.

How can I continue after completing my apprenticeship at thyssenkrupp rothe erde?
We of course hope that the apprentice will work for us beyond their training, whether as skilled workers in the manufacturing environment or as employees in the industrial area. Therefore, it is not uncommon for many former apprentices to work in our factories. Karsten Kaspari, who is a master at our Lippstadt plant, remembers:
“My career at thyssenkrupp rothe erde started in 1995 with my training as an industrial mechanic. 10 years later, I was made a supervisor before three years later I was made a master. I took several courses, the largest of which was that of a mechanical engineer! ”
