The Type A, angular contact ball bearing is designed to be used in applications with high axial loads in one direction. This bearing also works well in radial or combined radial-thrust applications. The Type A bearing should never be used alone to support moment loads or reversing axial loading.
The Type A bearing represents a conventional angular‑contact ball bearing configuration. Its performance advantage is increased axial‑load capacity relative to Type C and Type X bearing designs.
Due to the counterbored geometry of the outer race, the Type A bearing is capable of supporting axial loads in only one direction. Consequently, it must be installed in an opposed (back‑to‑back or face‑to‑face) arrangement with a second bearing. This paired configuration ensures proper establishment and retention of the designed contact angle, while also enabling the system to accommodate bidirectional or reversing thrust loads.
We can provide standard series dimensions ranging for
cross section from 3/8”(9,53mm) up to 1”(25,4mm),
bore diameter from 5,5”(140mm) up to 60”(1500mm)
with corresponding ball sizes and cages with pocket design, but as well we offer tailor‑made solutions engineered to meet your precise application dimensions and requirements.
