Axial bearings

Axial bearings are ideal for transmitting unilateral (i.e. acting in only one direction) axial forces. Radial forces cannot be transmitted with this model. So that the balls do not come free of their raceway at high speed centrifugal forces, it has to be loaded with a minimum axial force.

Axial bearings are additionally available as axial, cylindrical and tapered roller bearings. These are well suited to absorbing large, axial forces acting from both sides, for example, as bearings for rolling mills. They are also used where high rigidity levels of the bearing formation in the axial direction are required. An example of this would be as bearings for carousel boards.

Our products

Unilateral axial bearing

Technical drawing of a single direction axial bearing in silver and gold

Our unilateral axial bearings from the psl® brand are characterised by their simple design: They are made up of a shaft-locating washer and a housing-locating washer with raceways. They additionally include rolling elements arranged in a row and a cage. Individual parts of our unilateral bearings can be assembled separately.

These bearings can only absorb pure axial loads in one direction. The load capacity and possible speed depends on the shape of the rolling elements used.

Typical applications: General engineering

Double-sided axial bearings

Technical drawing of a double direction axial bearing.

Our double-sided axial bearings from the psl® brand are made up of a shaft-locating washer, two housing-locating washers, rolling elements arranged in two rows and two cage units. Individual parts of our double-sided bearings can be assembled separately.

These bearings can absorb pure axial loads in two directions. Axial roller bearings are particularly suited to absorbing high axial loads. For lower loads but high speeds, we recommend using axial roller bearings.

The installed cages are made of different materials. For example, brass cages are particularly suitable when a rigid version of a bearing is required.

Typical applications: General engineering

Axial ball bearings

Technical drawing of an axial ball bearing in silver and gold.

Our axial ball bearings from the psl® brand are made up of a shaft-locating washer, two housing-locating washers, balls as rolling elements, which are arranged in two rows, as well as two cage units. Individual parts of our axial ball bearings can be assembled separately.

Depending on the number of raceways, our axial ball bearings can absorb axial loads in one or two directions. For proportionately low loads and high speeds, we recommend using axial ball bearings.

The installed cages are made of different materials. For example, brass cages are particularly suitable when a rigid version of a bearing is required.

Typical applications: General engineering

Axial ball roller bearings

Technical drawing of a tapered roller axial bearing in silver and gold.

Our axial tapered roller bearings from the psl® brand are made up of a shaft-locating and a housing-locating washer. The rolling elements (tapered rollers) run down one or two raceways, guided by a cage unit. Individual parts of our axial tapered roller bearings can be assembled separately.

These bearings can absorb axial loads in one or two directions. Axial tapered roller bearings are suited to absorbing high axial loads.

The installed cages are made of different materials. For example, brass cages are particularly suitable when a rigid version of a bearing is required.

Typical applications: General engineering, Gear manufacturing, Raw material extraction and processing

Axial cylindrical roller bearings

Technical drawing of a cylindrical roller axial bearing in silver and gold.

Our axial cylindrical roller bearings from the psl® brand are made up of a shaft-locating washer, housing-locating washers, rollers as rolling elements, which are arranged in one or two raceways, as well as one cage unit. Individual parts of our axial cylindrical roller bearings can be assembled separately.

These bearings can absorb axial loads in one or two directions. Axial cylindrical roller bearings are suited to absorbing high axial loads.

The installed cages are made of different materials. For example, brass cages are particularly suitable when a rigid version of a bearing is required.

Typical applications: Gear manufacturing
