Our new rothe erde multi-megawatt pitch and rotor bearing test rig
thyssenkrupp rothe erde set up a new multi megawatt test rig for pitch and rotor bearings. With this test rig we simulate the performance of our bearings under real conditions.
Our new test rig is part of thyssenkrupp rothe erde's research and development center for wind power components in Lippstadt. The facility is one of the largest and most modern of its kind in the world. On an area of around 10,000 square meters, slewing bearings for onshore and offshore wind turbines are tested and further developed. Quality and service life tests are carried out on bearings with an outside diameter of up to six meters on a total of twelve large test rigs. The focus is on so-called inductively hardened bearings. These are extremely powerful components that are suitable for particularly large applications.
The new test rig from thyssenkrupp rothe erde allows all functional tests simulating a load over the entire service life of the component of up to 25 years to be completed in six to twelve months.
